Dr. Elissa Mendenhall's clinical practice uses proven, effective, natural, and safe techniques to address the following issues: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, AD(H)D, OCD, insomnia and sleep disorders, addictions and compulsions, postpartum depression, and behavioral disorders. She works with both children and adults drawing from modalities that include amino acid neurotransmitter balancing, orthomolecular psychiatry, targeted nutrition, homeopathy, biofeedback, and lifestyle counseling. She also is able to manage most medications, with limited prescribing for controlled substances. She is also helpful at support with medication optimization, and discontinuation. The first step, however, is for her to listen to you. From there she works in concert with you to find solutions and facilitate recovery.

Dr. Mendenhall graduated in 2005 from the National College of Natural Medicine, the oldest naturopathic medical school in the United States, where she currently teaches Integrative Psychopharmacology. Since then she has had the privilege to study with many of the great holistic mental health practitioners in the United States. She believes she can learn every day by listening to her patients. Dr. Mendenhall has served as an educator with Portland Hearing Voices, as a medication manager at Windhorse Integrative Health, and as the medical director of the Center for Behavioral Health in Albany, Oregon. She has published in Mothering and the Journal of Phytotherapy Research. The year 2012 brought her the wonderful opportunity to open Amenda Clinic and bring together innovative mental health practitioners here in beautiful Portland, Oregon.
