Our Therapies & Modalities

Functional Naturopathic Medicine

Our doctors use a personalized and integrative approach to your care. We look at your body as a whole in order to determine the root cause of your symptoms. Our approach is patient-centered and collaborative. You are involved in the conversation from day one. We spend time listening to your story and exploring the interaction between genetic, environmental, biochemical, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.

Functional Lab Testing

Lab testing evaluates how well your body is functioning on a spectrum of health. Your labs may appear normal but you’re still not feeling well. We use a variety of lab tests to dig deeper and look for the root of your symptoms.

We offer genetic testing through Tempus labs.

If you do not have insurance, we have partnered with Ulta Lab Tests for cost-effective lab testing.

counseling

Our counseling team uses multiple approaches to therapy. The approach we use will be tailored to the individual needs of each patient and may include work focused around polyvagal theory, Emotion-focused therapy, and various forms of somatic therapy, all with a trauma informed lens. We also provide more tool based therapies such as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and are adept at interweaving behavioral tools as appropriate. With our interdisciplinary approach, Amenda doctors and counselors may inter-refer to provide optimal comprehensive care.

Flower Essences

Flower essences are liquid infusions that have captured the essence or healing vibration of flowers or plants in water. These flower remedies are a safe and gentle therapy that restore the balance between mind and body. They can have a subtle yet profound effect on your emotions.

Walsh Protocol

The Walsh Protocol was developed by William Walsh, Ph.D. This protocol looks at biochemical imbalances that can appear in people who experience various types of mental health conditions. These imbalances include overmethylation, undermethylation, copper overload, and pyrrole disorder. Using advanced nutrient therapies can make a significant difference in re-establishing this biochemical balance. Common conditions treated by the Walsh Protocol include behavior disorders, ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s disease.  We use screening questionnaires and specialized blood and urine testing to determine if you would benefit from this protocol.

Amen Clinic Brain Scans

We partner with the Amen Clinics to order brain SPECT scans. SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) is a brain imaging diagnostic tool that analyzes the blood flow and activity to your brain. These scans can provide valuable information to help us more accurately identify brain health issues that may be contributing to your mental health symptoms.

Heart Rate Variability

Heart rate variability (HRV) is the measurement of the variation in time between each of your heartbeats. Variation is normal and is due to the synergistic balance between your fight or flight response (your sympathetic nervous system) and your rest and digest response (your parasympathetic nervous system). An imbalance in this measurement has been shown to be a biomarker of stress. We partner with Lief Therapeutics to provide a wearable biofeedback device that not only tracks your personal HRV in real-time but offers guided meditations to assist you in re-balancing your nervous system.

Nutrition

What you eat can play a huge role in your health. It can also be very confusing to know exactly what to eat when you are inundated with so many different diets and eating styles in the media. Our providers are experts in nutrition and take a very individualized non-diet lifestyle approach to food. We know making food changes isn’t always easy so work with you one step at a time. We will help you come up with a food and nutrition plan that suits you, taking into consideration any food sensitivities or food beliefs that you have.

Pharmaceuticals

Our doctors are well-trained in the use of psychiatric medications. We can manage any medications you are currently on or start you on a new medication. If your goal is to reduce or eliminate medication use, we work with you to provide a personalized medication tapering plan. This process may involve using a combination of other therapies to help support your mental health and reduce medication withdrawals while we work together to reduce your dose.

Herbal Support

Herbal medicine, also known as botanical medicine, is the medical use of plants or plant extracts to improve health, support wellness, or treat the underlying cause of health conditions. Our providers create personalized formulas just for you. There are a variety of forms we may recommend, including tinctures, capsules, tablets, teas, or food-based plant medicine. Herbal medicine is a safe and effective treatment that will support your ability to heal

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a form of therapy that acknowledges the connection between mind and body. Both your mind and your physical body hold onto your past experiences. This form of therapy uses talk therapy in combination with mind-body exercises like sensation awareness, breathwork, meditation, and visualization to help your body release stress, tension, and trauma.

EMDR

Coming soon.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of psychotherapy treatment that is used to help heal from emotional trauma. It is effective for anyone suffering from anxiety, panic, PTSD, or trauma. The method uses bilateral stimulation such as eye movements, tapping, or sound to assist you in safely processing traumatic memories. It helps retrain your brain and transform your emotional response to past trauma. You will gain new insight into your situation, learn to replace negative beliefs about yourself with positive beliefs, and learn new skills and behaviors to work through future emotional distress. Your brain’s natural ability to heal will be activated, and it will become more open to healing.
